Las Vegas Locals...
Get Ready For an Adventure!
So, the weather has gotten colder, but we don’t get snow so there is no reason to go outside, right? Wrong. The desertscape of Southern Nevada and the neighboring states has so much more to offer than just hot sand and dry air. The truth is that this area has some stunning locations of natural beauty, and many of them are within easy riding distance of Las Vegas.
Sure, it can still get bitterly cold outside during the winter, even in the desert; however, those days are not as frequent as the too-hot-to-go-outside days of the summer, which means that there are plenty of days that are perfect weather for outdoor exploration.
Don’t feel like you have to spend the winter months cooped up in your home. Take the opportunity to rent one of our motorcycles and do a little sightseeing. Get outside, get some vitamen D, feel the wind on your face, and go see something amazing. Trust me, the trip will be worth it. You won’t see the desert the same afterward.
Winter Tour Guide
Not sure where to go on your winter excursion and don’t fancy getting lost in the Mojave? No sweat. Check out our list of destinations below, and use the handy map links to plan your route.
Zion National Park Loop
The Zion National Park Loop is a gorgeous location that makes for a wonderful day trip. Located 152 miles from Vegas, this national park has a large assortment of different, naturally occurring rock formations, great hiking trails, and lots of indigenous wildlife. The park is open year round, though there are areas which are closed off seasonally due to ice and snow. A pass/permit is required to enter.
Valley Of Fire, Clark County NV
The Valley of Fire is a great option for a winter ride for three reasons:
- It’s close to Las Vegas—only 49 minutes away.
- It has some amazing rock formations, which you count on to always be there.
- Since it is located in Nevada there is no need to have seasonal closures, so the park is open from dawn until dusk everyday.
Las Vegas Strip
Sure its the city, but it’s still nice to get out. The Las Vegas Strip is famous for its casinos, shops, hotels, and restraunts. No where can you have a night on the town like at the Las Vegas Strip.
However, day trips can be fun too. The Strip sports many uniquely shaped buildings that are designed to catch the eye and leave an impression. If you want to get out and see something fun, but aren’t really in the mood for an outdoor excursion, then the Las Vegas Strip could be just the trip for you. Besides, one benefit of being surrounded by buildings is that if the weather proves to be a little too cold for comfort, there are plenty of exciting places to pop into to get warm.
Red Rock Canyon Loop
With many hiking trails, overlooks, and beautiful views the Red Rock Canyon Loop is 13 mile ride that is just pure enjoyment. Better yet, it less than 30 minutes from Vegas. While it is open year round it does require a timed reservation between October 1 through May 31, so previous planning is important if you want to enjoy this lovely ride.
Death Valley California
While known to be the hottest place on earth during the summer, this desertscape is quite nice in the winter. About 2 1/2 hours away from Las Vegas, this park sports many interesting locations including the Badwater Basin, which is positioned at 282 feet below sea level and is the lowest point in the United States. The park also has sand dunes, a borax mine, a volcanic crater, and plenty more to make a boring winter day into a fun adventure.
Can't choose? Why not see them all?
If you are really dying to stretch your legs and get away from home it is possible to visit all the sites in one trip, though I wouldn’t recommend it all in one day.
If you are interested in making a multiple-day, or even multiple-week excursion, Jack’s Motorcycle Rentals can make it happen. Contact us today to discuss your plans, I can help get you prepped and ready for your ride.
